Numerous streams weave through the forests of secluded valleys encircling steep mountains. When Robert Trent Jones Jr. first visited the proposed construction site, surrounded by such rugged natural terrain that even Japan's most renowned designers had abandoned it, he praised it as “a once-in-a-lifetime gift from heaven” and eagerly sought to design the course. The extension of the undulating greens forms large surrounding mounds, not only preventing easy recovery shots, but also serving as natural grass spectator seating during tournaments. The unity felt by players stepping on the same grass inspires them and transforms the gallery's cheers into excitement.
