The company’s headquarters and factory are located just downstream from the Kakogawa Tatsuryu Bay. Their main brands are “Kamimusubi” and “Tatsuryu-nada,” both of which have received numerous awards. The name “Kamimusubi” comes from the fact that two oak trees behind the brewery appeared to be intertwined as one near a shrine on the back of the brewery.
Kato City is also known as the hometown of Yamada Nishiki rice, and they use locally grown sake rice and spring water from Mount Goho to brew their sake. Since 1994, due to the aging of the brewers, new brewers from the Nanbu school have joined the company.
The factory building is a historic structure made entirely of pure wood with a sawtooth roof. Every year in February, they sponsor the “Warm Kato City Winter Festival” organized by Kato City, during which they open the brewery for tours and tasting events.
In recent years, “Koji Sweets Poudre” has become popular, especially among women, and it has been selected for “Kobe Selection” and the “Hyogo Five-Star Designated Product Catalog.”
